Good Friday

There wasn't much good about that Friday,
when the "powers that be" conspired
to torture and kill an innocent man
in order to "keep the peace."
And God responded to humanity
at their worst
not with the thunderbolts of Zeus,
or the crude weapons of Cain,
but with new life
and new hope
quiet
and indomitable.
